25 years experience of negotiating commercial contracts for sale of goods and services, licensing, marketing, manufacturing, maintenance and freight/shipping. Experience includes international negotiations in China, Japan, Africa, India, North and South America and Europe.
Mergers & Acquisitions
First hand experience of dealing with the aftermath of a merger and rebuilding the business around merged workforces and resources. Between 1988 and 1991 she reconfigured the product range of a major UK tannery, reconciled a profitable new customer base with the production capabilities of the tannery and built strong relationships with leading fashion houses around the world.
Commodities
Between 1980 and 1988: Zinc metals trader and International Sales Manager responsible for the sales of 200,000mt zinc and cadmium metal world wide. Experience includes managing a trading portfolio and foreign currency hedging programme for 6 currencies. Negotiated annual contracts, achieved production/supply balance through judicious trading and developed profitable co-operation agreements with competitors which complied with anti-trust/anti competition regulation.
Quality and non-performance
Notable experience in mediating disputes where quality, compliance and/or competence are features of the claim. IT hardware/software, telecommunications, infrastructure build and maintenance contracts.
In Practice
Amanda pioneered the use of mediation skills to negotiate contracts in the late 80’s, sometimes called ‘deal mediation’. The process, combined with experience, helps to design better terms including parallel dispute resolution processes for the period of the contract. This helps manage the risk of early termination and disputes.
